Mt Hood Meadows is always the first resort to open in the Pacific Northwest\, consistently opening by Thanksgiving year after year. This year should be exceptionally good with another season of moderately strong La Nina conditions predicted. We'll be staying at nearby Cooper Spur Mountain Resort in two private cabins. In addition to the downhill ski area is a Nordic area at Mt Hood Meadows as well as a Nordic area at the resort itself. There is also a small beginner hill just up the road from the resort.

The trip can be done on snowshoes\, skis or a splitboard\, but skis or splitboard will be faster on the way back. Though not a replacement for avalanche instruction this can serve as a refresher for those who have had some\, or perhaps a quick orientation for those who don't feel they need a formal course yet. You will need an avalanche beacon\, probe and shovel to participate.
This will be a free trip.
