ASPEN GAY SKI WEEK - 2008
On The Slopes!
A combined group of 24 from Seattle and San Francisco headed to Aspen from January 13th-20th. Aspen had something for everyone. There were four great mountains and we all enjoyed the skiing and relaxing. Skiers from both groups skied the gentle beginner slopes of Buttermilk, Ruthie's intermediate cruiser on Aspen Mountain, the seemingly endless groomed corduroy of Snowmass and the steep back bowls of Aspen Highlands.
Group Dinner
The town of Aspen was a delight, with great restaurants, pubs, art galleries, shopping, health clubs and spas, all on quaint Victorian streets in a pristine Rocky Mountain setting. Events at this year’s gay ski week include the downhill costume competition won by “Senator Larry Craig”, comedy night, the Aspen GLBT Film Festival, a gallery walk with tons of free food and drinks, group dinners, a wine and cheese party hosted by our San Francisco neighbors, and parties galore.
We stayed at the Chateau Roaring Fork which was within easy walking distance of the slopes of Aspen Mountain or the free shuttle buses to the other mountains.
The SAGA north group of San Francisco has already invited us to have a joint trip again next year. I look forward to seeing you in Aspen January 11th- January 18th, 2009!
