HOG LOPPET CROSS-COUNTRY TREK - Feb 25-27
The Leavenworth Ski Club hosts the annual Hog Loppet, a non-competitive 30k Ski Trek from the top of Mission Ridge Ski Area to Blewett Pass. The trek is an exciting challenge for strong intermediate and advanced cross country skiers. While much of the route is groomed there is also a highly entertaining segment of un-groomed excitement. You will be joined by skiers from all age groups using every type of backcountry and cross country ski you can think of. A few even come in costume! Warming stations offer a great opportunity to take a break, gather around the fire, have some sweet snacks and hot chocolate.
Shuttle buses are available for Hog Loppers to transport us to Mission Ridge and return us to Leavenworth at the end of the day. Advanced event and shuttle bus registration is highly recommended.
If you want to cross country but don’t feel like cranking out 30KM in a day – there are dozens of groomed and un-groomed options in and Leavenworth. Rental gear is also available in town.
For those of you who crave the carve – Mission Ridge is available for your downhill desires. The ski area is only about 25 minutes from our accommodations. This is a great opportunity to hit the eastside pow!
We will be staying in a beautiful fully restored 100-year-old farmhouse built by one of the original pioneers in the Wenatchee Valley. The house is on 20 private acres outside of Cashmere (15 minutes from Leavenworth). With nearly 3,000 sq.ft. & three stories, the house has five bedrooms, a stone wood-burning fireplace, antique furniture, new baths, a game room, and a huge dining table that seats 16.
Price: $125 per person includes continental breakfast on Saturday & a full breakfast on Sunday. The trip is limited to 12 participants so it is sure to fill quickly. Sign-ups begin at the Ski Buddies Potluck on October 8th.
