BACKCOUNTRY TRAVEL and AVALANCHE SKILLS - Saturday, Dec 17
Submitted by Content Manager on Sun, 10/02/2011 - 23:07We'll head out to the valley above Alpental for a day of beacon practice, shoveling practice, and snowpack analysis. The trip can be done on snowshoes, skis or a splitboard, but skis or splitboard will be faster on the way back. Though not a replacement for avalanche instruction this can serve as a refresher for those who have had some, or perhaps a quick orientation for those who don't feel they need a formal course yet. You will need an avalanche beacon, probe and shovel to participate.
This will be a free trip.
