Submitted by lisaelaine on Mon, 03/24/2008 - 21:23.Hey Everyone,
We have 3 spaces that has just come open in the last week on the Scottish Lakes trip. The trip is the weekend (March 28-30)so if you are interested but still "on the fence" I'd go now because unless someone else leads this trip next year, we will not be leading it next season. Don't miss this opportunity for a great backcountry experience. Check the the calendar or trips sections on this website for more details. You can go to www.scottishlakes.com to see the place itself. Let Elaine Field or Lisa Sokanoff know if interested ASAP.

Salmon Ridge XC Trip Report
Submitted by Rico on Mon, 01/28/2008 - 16:59.Tim B and I had a good time at Salmon Ridge Snopark on Sunday. The weather was very nice with blue skies and good visability of the surrounding terrain. We skiied through forest and along the Nooksack river. We heard the sound of happy birds. And, we were greeted by only a few fellow enthusiasts on the trail. We skiied groomed and ungroomed areas. We had a really good time. Wish you were there to enjoy it with us. Join us this coming Sunday, won't ya? ---Rico.
Snoqualmie Corridor XC Sunday
Submitted by tbyrnestl on Mon, 01/28/2008 - 09:57.With Whistler coming up with it's yang-fest of vertical revelry, I'm thinking that a bit of x-axis yin skiing is in order this weekend. A few of us are thinking of heading out to Crystal Springs Sno Park (I-90 exit 62) for a bit of Nordic skiing on Sunday. The Snopark accesses the Erling Stordahl loop trails - 6km of trails from easy to advanced and the John Wayne Trail - up to 12km one way of easy cruising along the shore of lake Keechelus.
Get in touch if you're interested to coordinate rides, meetup time etc.
scottish lakes - anyone going interested in backcountry downhill
Submitted by tbyrnestl on Thu, 01/24/2008 - 17:40.I'm kind of thinking of joining the Scottish Lakes trip, mostly for backcountry downhill skiing, but I'm wondering if anyone else who's going is also so inclined? Can't really do it safely solo.

Salmon Ridge SnoPark Sunday 01/27
Submitted by Rico on Wed, 01/23/2008 - 13:39.Hi Ski Buddies---
Chiwawa was a really nice XC trip along the Wenatchee River and weather was very nice, as well.
This Sunday, 01/27, let's go to Salmon Ridge Snopark. It has 14.5 miles of XC groomed trails rated easy, gain 60 meters over 5 kilometers. Over those easy kilos, we'll traverse forests, open vistas and waterfalls. Check it out, http://www.parks.wa.gov/winter/parks/nonmotorparks.asp?Park=50.
We should depart at 8:30a. Spend a 4-5 hours there. And, return home around 7pm.
Let me know and let's go,
---Rico.
Eye Chiwawa
Submitted by Rico on Thu, 01/17/2008 - 21:58.Sorry for the late posting. I'm planning on XC skiing at Chiwawa Snopark near Lake Wenatchee St. Park. For a full description, go to WA snoparks and click on the Leavenworth/Chelan area. It's about a 2 hour drive each way and we'd stay about 4 hours or so. Let me know if you're interested. ---Rico. Forgot to mention this Sunday the 20th.
Yellowstone anyone?
Submitted by Rico on Fri, 01/11/2008 - 16:46.Hey Ski Buddies---
Yellowstone is beautiful this time of year, so I'm told. Rates are reasonable. We could XC ski, shoe, hot tub or look out the window and ask ourselves "what was I thinking." Could be fun. Let me know.
---Rico.

New Years Day Nordic
Submitted by tbyrnestl on Thu, 12/27/2007 - 10:09.For those who don't have to sleep off a hangover, how about celebrating New Years day by heading out for some Nordic skiing at the Snoqualmie Nordic Center (Hyak). I'm thinking of an AM tour around the Mt Catherine Loop (or an out and back on the Rockdale Lake side of the trail if the trail is closed for avalanche danger (intermediate trail mostly becuase of significant but gentle climbing/downhill). Then we'd have lunch and afterward we'd ski the John Wayne trail along lake Keechelus (flat and easy out and back - we'd just head out as far as we felt like and then turn around).

XC This Saturday Anyone?
Submitted by tbyrnestl on Wed, 12/19/2007 - 16:29.Yeah it's Xmas coming up and everyone is out of town, but if you happen to be a family shunning nihilist like myself and find yourself in town, how about some nordic? I'm thinking of either Stevens or Snoqualmie depending on driving and skiing conditions Saturday morning, and I'm thinking of leaving Seattle about 8:30-ish. (I'm now shooting for Sunday morning, but if there's little interest I'll just downhill).
