Telemark Skiing
Blue-ish skin n ski this wknd?
Submitted by tbyrnestl on Tue, 02/26/2008 - 19:55.I'm thinking of heading back to the Stevens Pass area to ski backcountry - Yodelin summit - about 2,000 feet of downhill that's more or less blue-ish (about 18% which is a pretty easy blue run). I expect avalanche danger to be very low, but I'll have my avy stuff with me anyways. So if you want the peace of mind bring yours.
Big gay and lesbian Rainier Telemark outing
Submitted by tbyrnestl on Wed, 02/20/2008 - 19:30.So here's the idea: a couple of days skiing out of Paradise - down from Muir if weather permits, something lower if it doesn't.
We get Copper Creek Lodge for two nights for about $110 a piece if we get six of us together. Restaurant at the Inn and there's also a kitchen.
I'm thinking sometime in April for this.
If interested get in touch and I can put together an e-mail list to talk about details.
Backcountry outing(s) later this month
Submitted by tbyrnestl on Thu, 01/10/2008 - 11:05.I'm only a month into my ski season (the first in years for me) and already I'm getting tired of the lifts and packed slopes. So as to not burn out on piste skiing prior to the Whistler trip, I'm thinking of one or two late January backcountry ski outings - nothing too ambitious, just some more or less avy safe cruising terrain to skin and ski. If you want to chat about possible destinations and dates, catch me at the Sunday potluck or on the Crystal trip.
I've posted this under telemark but AT or split boards are welcome too.

Tele novices out there?
Submitted by tbyrnestl on Wed, 12/19/2007 - 16:41.Hi,
While at Manning I heard a couple of different folks mooting the idea of learning telemark this year. Well, I'm doing exactly that - just bought the skis and such today - and if anyone else is interested in learning with me, get in touch. I'm planning on doing this without instruction, but if others were interested in a group lesson or two, I'd probably be game for that. I'll probably be using the lifts at Snoqualmie or Stevens for the first few weeks, then it's out to the backcountry somewhere for skin and ski practice.
Get in touch if interested:
